An aluminum grommet for attaching the cap of a German field bottle to a strap. The cap is fastened with a peg through the grommet, allowing it to rotate.
Also suitable for a sling tip on a tropical strap for a coconut-type canteen and other Afrika Korps canteens.
Easy to install: insert it into the hole, expand it slightly, and roll it out. Use masking tape to protect paint during installation.

Historical reference
German field-bottle carrying straps incorporated the lid as well as the suspension hook and buckle. This arrangement kept the cap attached to the canteen equipment while the bottle was open.
