Pair with a compatible canteen harness to replace its suspension hook or complete a reproduction field-bottle set. The finished harness attaches the bottle to the bread bag's front D-ring; use the lower stabilizing tab and retaining strap as part of the carrying arrangement.

The German M31 field bottle was carried in a harness equipped with a buckle and suspension hook. It was commonly attached to the bread bag so the soldier could carry water with the rest of the field kit.
