A neat replica of the 18 mm buckle for German equipment. It was used as part of an assault pack, for tropical hunters, late (after 1943) bowler straps, and on gaiters of mountain rangers.

Buckles in grey paint. The maker stamp is v.H&Co. The dimensions are approximately 2x3 cm, the width of the opening is 19 mm, for an 18 mm sling.

It fits the strap of a field bottle, but is not suitable for equipment where a similar larger buckle was used.

Pair with 16 mm webbing and a matching 16 mm strap tip when repairing or making a harness for a German tropical or coconut-type field bottle. Complete the assembly with the correct cap, cap-retaining parts, suspension hook and cup; check the strap width before ordering.

Historical reference

German coconut-type field bottles combined an aluminum vessel with a wood-based insulating shell and a webbing harness. Surviving wartime harnesses include metal adjustment buckles and Bakelite screw caps.
